Boyle, Fredrickson, Newholm, Stein & Gratz Announces New President and Board of Directors
Boyle, Fredrickson, Newholm, Stein & Gratz, the largest intellectual property law firm in Wisconsin, has announced a new President and Board of Directors. Serving as President is Andrew McConnell. He replaces John Fredrickson, who has stepped down as President of the firm but continues his full-time practice in intellectual property litigation and counseling. Serving another term in the Milwaukeebased firm’s Board are Michael Gratz and Peter Stomma. They are joined by Timothy Newholm, who takes McConnell’s seat on the Board.
A graduate of the University of Wisconsin School of Law, McConnell joined the firm as a partner in 2001. The past president of the Wisconsin Intellectual Property Law Association specializes in patent, trademark and copyright law. He is also a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin, the American Bar Association and the Milwaukee Bar Association.
Gratz, also a graduate of the University of Wisconsin School of Law, helped found the firm in 1999. He is the past chair of both the Milwaukee Bar Association’s Intellectual Property Section and St. Thomas More Lawyers Society of Wisconsin. Gratz is also the past president of the State Bar of Wisconsin’s Intellectual Property Section, and specializes in patent, trademark and copyright law, licensing and computer law.
Stomma is a graduate of Drake University School of Law and joined the firm as a partner in 2001. His focus is on patent, trademark and copyright law and he has made several appearances before the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, various United States district and state courts, and the Board of Patent Appeals.
Newholm, who also co-founded the firm, is a graduate of the George Mason University School of Law and an adjunct professor of law at the Marquette University School of Law. Formerly a patent examiner with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, he provides expertise in the practice areas of patent prosecution and patent litigation.
